BOCA RATON, Fla., March
12, 2008 — Trading Technologies
International, Inc. (TT) today announced 12 schools have joined TT’s University
Relations Program during the current academic year. They include Gonzaga
University, Hofstra University, Penn State, Rice University, Tulane University,
University College Cork (Ireland), University of Houston, University of Iowa,
University of Michigan, University of Virginia, University of Wisconsin and
Villanova University.
Through the program, TT donates its X_TRADER® derivatives
trading software to universities and colleges for use in classrooms and laboratories.
The schools have access to all X_TRADER components, including MD Trader®,
Autospreader®, Autotrader™, the X_TRADER API and more than 40
plug-in applications, to learn and apply textbook theories in a simulated
trading environment. TT connects to more than 20 global exchanges in North
America, Europe, the Middle East and the Asia/Pacific region, which allows
students to work with a variety of markets and asset classes. TT’s software is
utilized in undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including finance,
financial engineering, computer science and engineering, to:
- Demonstrate electronic markets on X_TRADER during
classes
- Create a simulated trading environment where
students can become familiar with the mechanics of electronic trading using recorded price data
- Enable financial engineering applications, such
as "black box" development
- Serve as a platform to develop computer science
applications with the X_TRADER API
"Trading Technologies has brought a real-life commercial
trading platform to the desktops of Villanova students," said James S.
Jablonski, Finance Lab Coordinator/Professor at Villanova University. "Villanova
School of Business students are more excited about learning when using TT’s
software because they know they are using the same platform that they will use
when they enter the workforce."
"Students in our Financial Trading course love the Trading
Technologies software simulator. Several commented that they had used the X_TRADER
software in a summer internship and planned to use it again after graduation,"
said Tyler Shumway, Director of the Tozzi Electronic Business and Finance Center
and Associate Professor of Finance at the University of Michigan’s Ross School
of Business. "As an instructor, I appreciate the realism of TT’s
simulator. I think it really helps students see how different
types of orders work, how a limit order book is structured and how prices
are set."
"Through this program, Trading Technologies helps students
begin to understand and harness the power of the derivatives markets. We are
honored to work with these innovative universities as they educate future
marketplace participants and leaders," said Harris Brumfield, CEO of TT.
More than 400 X_TRADER licenses have been donated to
higher education institutions in the U.S. and Europe since TT’s University
Relations Program launched in late 2006. Other participants include DePaul
University, Illinois Institute of Technology, Kent State University, Purdue
University and University of Illinois.
X_TRADER, TT's flagship order-entry product, is the premier front-end solution for
professional derivatives traders, brokers and market makers. It incorporates
single-action trade execution, high-speed connectivity to the world's largest
futures exchanges, real-time trade and position details and the patented MD
Trader, a vertical market depth display that allows immediate reaction to market ebb and flow.
