TT Gateway Configuration
After you install your TT Gateway, you must perform the following procedures to configure it:
- Edit the ttchron.ini file (activate the Key Server if necessary)
- Configure aconfig_local.xml using the AConfig Utility
- Set the TT Gateway (i.e., Guardian’s) mode
- Set up Guardian
- Load product tables
- Set up TTChron for Automatic Startup
- Enable Auto Login (Optional)
- Add Trader and Admin IDs to the Windows User Authentication System (WUAS)
- Configure Multicast and or WAN Routing
You must set the correct startup and shutdown times for all Windows services and TT programs in the ttchron.ini file (located in <root drive>:ttconfig). For information on editing ttchron.ini and its parameters, refer to . For trading hours specific to the exchange to which your TT Gateway connects, contact the exchange or visit its web site.
On those TT Gateways that use Order Routers, you must configure the needed number of Order Routers in ttchron.ini. The number of Order Routers is set in the count parameter. Refer to the appropriate installation chapter in the SAM specific to the TT Gateway being installed for information on that TT Gateway’s use of Order Routers.

If you are running the Key Server on this TT Gateway, you must activate this section in the ttchron.ini file. To do so, remove the # sign from the beginning of the following lines:

You must run at least one Key Server on the TT trading network. For further information on the Key Server, refer to The Key Server.
To configure TT Gateway behavior parameters, use the AConfig Utility tool accessible via its Desktop icon. Settings that you can configure include:
- The key range that the Key Server uses. You must use a unique key range.
- For Fill Server use, the exchange's “date rollover” hour (used on exchanges that run 24 hours)
- The number of fills to be retained whenever the TT Gateway starts up. The default is to retain all records
- Trader access to previous days’ fills. The default setting prevents traders from accessing this information
- TTORD login authentication behavior exhibited by the Guard Server
- Restricting or limiting the Price Server’s response to market depth requests
- Restricting or limiting Price Server broadcasts
- Behaviors relevant to the TT Gateway interacting with X_RISK®
- Super Guardian alert settings and communication parameters

Setting the Gateway Mode
By default, TT Gateways install in production mode. However, if you are upgrading from a previous version or build, a newly installed TT Gateway retains the mode setting of the previous TT Gateway installation (e.g., if you upgrade a TT Gateway set to simulation mode, the new TT Gateway installs in simulation mode).
To set the machine’s mode:
- Double-click the TT icon in the System Tray.
- On the Mode menu, click Production or click Simulation as needed.
- Close Guardian.
Setting up Guardian
Before you can operate the TT Gateway, you must:
- Publish the license file.
- If this is the first TT Gateway installed on a client’s network, you must distribute DH parameters.
- Map TTORD traders in Guardian and configure all relevant risk parameters. For further details on this procedure, refer to the Guardian User Manual Version 7.X.

On startup TT Gateways dynamically create a set of product tables. However, if you need to manually load product tables onto your TT Gateway, refer to .
Setting TTChron for Automatic Startup
You must set TT’s scheduling utility to start up automatically with the machine.
To set TTChron for automatic startup:
- From the Start menu, point to Settings,
and then click Control Panel.
The Control Panel displays.
- Double-click Administrative Tools.
- Double-click Services.
The Services dialog box displays.
- Scroll down the Services list to locate TT Chron.
- Right-click TT Chron, and then click Properties.
The TT Chron Properties (Local Computer) dialog box appears.
- In the Startup type list, click Automatic.
- Click OK, and then close the Services dialog boxes, Administrative Tools window and Control Panel.
Enabling Auto Login (Optional)
You can configure your TT Gateway so that direct traders do not need to log into the TT Trading System before their associated TTORD traders can access the exchange and begin trading. Once you configure a TT Gateway in this manner, when a TTORD trader attempts to log on, if the direct trader to whom he is mapped is not yet logged in, the TT Gateway automatically logs the direct trader into the exchange. Due to Order Router architecture, TT CME and FIX Gateways allow TTORD traders to enter orders without a direct trader logged in. You do not need to set up Auto Login on these TT Gateway types.
To configure Auto Login:
- In the AConfig Utility, set the
value of Auto-Login-Exch-Traders to true.

- If the TT Gateway is running, stop it by double-clicking Stop Exchangename Gateway.
- Start the TT Gateway by double-clicking Start Exchangename Gateway.
The Order Server must be running and connected to the exchange before continuing to the next step.
- Have all direct traders with TTORD traders log
into the exchanges on which they trade using X_TRADER®.
The TT Gateway captures and encrypts all trader logins for use when TTORD traders attempt to login. The TT Gateway stores this data in the ExchangeID_Mode_login7.dat file located in <root drive>:ttdatfiles.
If a TTORD trader attempts to log into an exchange before this procedure is completed, the login to the TT Gateway succeeds but not to the exchange. The trader cannot submit orders.
Adding Trader and Admin IDs to the WUAS
After installing the TT Gateway, before users can access the TT Gateway or interact with Guardian’s parameters, you must add trader and administrator login information into the WUAS on either the TT Gateway Server or a Domain Controller. Guard Server on the TT Gateway uses the WUAS to authenticate access to the TT Gateway. User information is the concatenated member, group, and trader IDs used by the trader when accessing the exchange.

To enter user information into the WUAS:
- On the Start menu, point to Settings,
and then click Control Panel.
The Control Panel displays.
- In the Control Panel, double-click Users and
Passwords (in XP, this icon is called User Accounts).
The User Accounts dialog box displays.
- In the Advanced tab, click the Advanced button.
The Local Users and Groups window displays.
- Click the Users folder.
- On the Action menu, click New
The New User dialog box displays.
- In the User name box, type the trader’s username
in the following format:
- MEMBR is the member ID. TTORD traders must use TTORD as their member ID.
- GRP is the customer assigned group ID.
- TRD is the trader ID provided by the exchange or customer.
- Press TAB three times, and then type the trader’s
password provided by the exchange.
Passwords are sensitive to case.
- Press TAB, and again, type the trader’s password.
- Clear the User Must Change Password at Next Logon check box.
- Select User Cannot Change Password and Password Never Expires.
- Click OK.
- Repeat steps this step - this step until you have entered all trader usernames.
Configuring WAN Routing
If machines with TT software need to communicate with one another across two or more network segments, you must setup WAN Router machines on each network segment. If this is the case, TT recommends that you use dedicated WAN Routers instead of using the TT Gateway.
