Creating Product Limits

Overview

As a buy-side administrator, you can view product risk limits for gateway logins assigned to all of the users in your company. If your broker has enabled the Manage trade-based option (located in your user’s Grant TT User Setup Access section), you can also manage.

The Filter by Broker field, allows you to select the company who you want to view and/or manage. Filtering by company is still available even when your broker has not given you the ability to manage.

Creating Product Limits

Buy-side administrators with permissions to manage can create for the gateway logins assigned to all of the users in the buy-side company.

Note: The broker must enable the Mange trader-based setting in TT User Setup to provide this functionality to the buy-side administrator.

To create product limits:

  1. On the Home tab, click Product Risk.

    Note: Exchange credentials added by a broker may not be immediately visible to logged in buy-side administrators. Log out and back into the Buy-side web client to see credentials that were added during your current session

    The Gateway Logins View window displays.

  2. Select a user.

    Product Limits display in the bottom pane if the selected Gateway Login already has assigned. Otherwise, the bottom pane will be blank.

  3. Right-click in the bottom pane and select Add.

    The Add Product Limit window opens.

  4. Select or enter a value in the applicable fields as needed. Product Limit fields include the following:
    • Gateway specifies the gateway to which the product limits apply.
    • Product Type specifies whether the limit applies to a future, option, spread, etc.
    • Product specifies the product, (e.g., ES) to which the limits apply. An asterisk indicates that the limit applies to all products of the specified type, unless an additional product limit exists with a specific product.
    • Trade Out Allowed determines whether the user can exceed maximum order quantity and/or available credit limits to reduce risk for a specified contract.
    • Margin displays the margin that is currently configured for the specified product.
    • Additional Margin specifies a percentage above or below the margin that the user must have to trade the contract. In other words, additional margin increases or decreases the margin requirement when calculating risk limits.
    • Max Order Qty specifies a limit on the maximum individual order size that the user can enter for a specified product.
    • Max Position specifies a position limit for a given product; maximum position can have various meanings depending on whether it’s related to a Future, Option, Spread, or Strategy.
    • Max Long Short limits the worst case total of long or short contracts per product.
  5. Click Add.
  6. Click the Save button to the left of the Username in the upper pane.

Copying Product Limits

Buy-side administrators with permissions to create product limits can also copy product limits making it easy to create product limits based on existing limits.

To copy product limits:

  1. Display the Gateway Logins View window and select the user with the product limits that you want to copy.

  2. Right-click the product limit that you want to copy and select Copy.The Add Product Limit window opens populated with the selected product limits.
  3. Select the desired gateway, product and product type.
  4. Make any necessary modifications in the Risk Limits Setting section and click Add
  5. Click the Save button to the left of the Username in the upper pane.

Deleting Product Limits

Buy-side administrators with permissions to manage can also delete them. To delete a product limit, right-click the product limit and select Delete. Click the Save button to the left of the Username in the upper pane.
