Preparing Your Environment
TT Update leverages a cloud-based architecture to manage upgrades. Users must be able to access and download updated software components via the internet.
Client workstations need to support HTTPS traffic (via Transport Layer Security) over port 443 to/from the update location on the Trading Technologies website. TT Update dynamically load balances update requests. Therefore, the firm’s administrator will need to allow traffic to the subdomain as opposed to a specific range of IP addresses. This can be accomplished by either updating firewall restrictions or using an http web proxy.
You can verify connectivity by pointing a web browser on the client workstation to:
Note: If internet connectivity is not available on a client workstation, version control can still be controlled by the TT User Setup administrator, and invalid versions will be rejected at login. However, invalid X_TRADER and X_RISK versions must be manually upgraded without the benefit of TT Update.
TT User Setup
To use TT Update, the TT User Setup Server in the environment must be version 7.17.20 or higher.
TT Update cannot be installed on any machine that contains Guardserver. GuardServer is installed by default with most TT server products, including but not limited to the following: TT User Setup Server, Algo Strategy Engine, Autospreader Strategy Engine, Synthetic Strategy Engine, Transaction Billing Server, Price Proxy, and all TT Gateways.
The initial install of TT Update requires administrator privileges on the local machine. Once TT Update is installed, administrator privileges are not required to perform TT client application version upgrades and downgrades.
During the initial installation process, the Install Manager will request the trader’s username and password as listed in TT User Setup.
In addition, clean installs may require connectivity information for your trading environment. This includes:
- Multicast IP and port assignment
- Remote proxy Daemon configuration
