UChicago Midwest Trading Competition: The Next Generation Gets a Taste
On April 8, the University of Chicago hosted its fifth iteration of the Midwest Trading Competition, drawing 102 students from some of the most prestigious colleges and universities across the United States and Canada. The students got a chance to test their algorithms using Trading Technologies’ TT Platform in a variety of simulations involving pairs trading and options market-making.

Student Trading Organization Showcases Work in Chicago
While other groups worked with money, UW-Madison’s Commodity Trading group used algorithms to exchange soy and corn using a simulation to exhibit their work at a Chicago showcase. The group was the only undergraduate, agricultural-focused group among the displayed teams.

Joe LeBlanc: Taking A Rare Energy Position
Joe LeBlanc was a 25-year energy trading veteran with experience trading and hedging in both the physical and futures markets when he was cajoled by a former colleague to teach a course in energy trading at Tulane University’s A. B. Freeman School of Business. The next year, he became a full-time professor and went about transforming the program and facility into something appropriate for a high-end hedge fund or institutional energy trading desk.
