Using the Operator ID Assistant



After an upgrade to TT Gateway 7.17, you must run the Operator ID Assistant utility to ensure that users continue to send their registered trader IDs to the exchange. If the Operator ID is blank, the default value sent to the exchange is the TT Username.

The Operator ID Assistant is a utility that copies trader ID or TT Username values and populates the corresponding Operator ID fields for each user in your TT User Setup database. The purpose of the utility is to populate Operator IDs for users connecting to TT Gateways 7.17 that support Operator IDs in your trading environment.

Before you begin:

  • Contact your TAM to obtain the utility.
  • Consult with your TAM before running the utility.
  • Create a directory on the TT User Setup master server workstation to store the utility (e.g., C:opid).
  • Make sure the Hostinfo.cfg files for CME, CBOT, or BVMF Gateways in your environment are available on the same workstation as the TT User Setup master server database.
  • Stop the master server.

Running the Operator ID Assistant

To run the Operator ID Assistant

  1. Double-click C:<path>OperatorIDUtil.exe to open the utility.

    The utility opens and displays the Step 1: System Check window:

  2. Click the link in the System Check pane to locate your TTUSerSetupServer.ini file.

    The utility displays the file if it’s in the current directory (TTUserSetupServer.ini is commonly located in C:ttconfig).

    Note: The TT User Setup database location is provided in the TTUserSetupServer.ini file. The utility uses this file to access the database.

  3. Select TTUserSetupServer.ini and click Open to verify that system requirements are met.

    Review the verification results displayed in the System Check pane then click Continue:

  4. In the Step 2: Provide Hostinfo Files window, click either Hostinfo Config Path or Override in the Provide Hostinfo Files pane.

    If you select Hostinfo Config Path and the utility detects that some of the files are still missing from the folder you selected, you will be prompted again to click Override in the Provide Hostinfo Files pane. If you decide at this time not to populate Operator IDs for the users logging in to these gateways, select Override and click Continue:

  5. In the Step 3: Verify Changes window, review the proposed changes to the Operator ID fields in the Verify Changes pane.

    Click open or save to view the results of the proposed changes in CSV format. If you choose to make the changes to the database, click Apply Changes to populate the Operator ID fields:

  6. In the Step 4: Commit Changes window, verify that the Operator IDs were populated in the database successfully.
  7. Restart the TT User Setup master server.

Rolling Back the Operator ID Changes to the Database

If you need to roll back the changes to your TT User Setup database after running the utility, do the following:

To roll back the Operator ID changes to the database

  1. Navigate to the database location (e.g., C:opidtest).
  2. Move the current database file (e.g., us70_user_setup_db.mdb) to a temporary folder.
  3. Rename the previous database file (e.g., us70_user_setup_db.mdb.before.mdb) by removing “.mdb.before” from the filename.
