Data File Questions

Can I compress the data files?

No. We do not support Windows file compression in FMDS.

How do I determine if FMDS is still collecting data?

Open an X_STUDY chart.

Alternatively, you can check the time the warm.h5 file is updated. The warm.h5 file is located here: <root drive>:ttdatfilesfmdssafe

Additionally, you can monitor the size of your overall database size in the Database Info tab on the FMDS Management Console to tell if FMDS is actively collecting data. The Database Size field includes the warm.h5 file, its backup and all archive files. Refer to Managing Your Database.

What do I do if FMDS stops collecting data?

If FMDS stops collecting data, restart both the TT FMDS Feed and the TT FMDS Responder.

While we recommend you use the FMDS Management Console window to stop and start the Feed and Responder, you can also use the Windows Computer Management window.

To restart the FMDS Feed and Responder using the Management Console:

  1. Open the FMDS Management Console window.
  2. On the Connection tab, if the TTFMDS Feed is stopped, click the blue start button.

    - or -

    On the Connection tab, if the TTFMDS Feed is started, click the blue restart button.

    The red radio button turns green.

  3. Repeat Step 2 for the TTFMDSResp field.

    The red radio button turns green.

    You successfully restarted the FMDS Feed and Responder.

To restart the FMDS Feed and Responder using the Computer Management window:

  1. Right-click My Computer and click Manage.

The Computer Management window appears.

  1. On the left, click the + sign to expand Services and Applications.
  2. Click Services.
  3. Scroll down to TTFMDSFeed.exe.
  4. Right-click TTFMDS Feed and click Restart.
  5. Repeat Steps 4 and 5 for the TTFMDSResp.exe.

You successfully restarted FMDS.
