Common Tasks in the Alert Manager
Below you will find some of the most common tasks within the Alert Manager window.
Adding Alerts
The Alert Manager window allows you to set alerts based on many configurable values. There are four types of alert notifications that can be triggered: displaying a pop-up message in X_RISK , sending an email message, display a color, or play a sound file. You can create up to 20 alerts per tab within the Alert Manager window.
To add an alert:
- From
the Control Panel,
click the
icon.
- Click
Add Alert. A new alert definition appears at the bottom of the Alert Manager window.
- Add Creating Alert Conditions using the condition builder.
- Enter the alert description.
- Set the reset frequency of the alert.
- Enable and configure the alert notification (e.g., Email or Message).
- Enabling and Disabling Alerts the alert so that it is active.
You successfully added an alert.
Creating Alert Conditions
The alert condition is the logic that defines if an alert should be triggered. Alerts are only triggered if the alert condition is met and the alert is active.You can create complex alerts that trigger off multiple conditions by using the AND or the OR operator. For example, you could create an alert that just triggers on a price condition, or on both price and time condition.There are six types of conditions available within the Alert Manager window:
- Prices: Alert condition based on the price of an instrument.
- Fills: Alert condition based on Fill records.
- Trading: Alert condition based on grouping within the Position window.
- Orders: Alert condition based on Order records.
- Event: Alert based on a system event.
- Time: Alert condition that is based on time duration.
Note:
To remove an existing condition click the delete button located to
the right of the condition.
- Creating a Price Condition
To add a price condition:
- From the Control Panel, click
the
icon.
- Create a new or select an existing alert.
- From the first list menu select Prices.
- Select the instrument type using the Instrument Explorer.
Select an Price Fields to validate.
Select a Comparison Operator (i.e. >=, <=).
Type or select a quantity from the list.
Note: To add an additional condition select the AND or OR operator from last list.
You successfully created a price condition.
- Creating a Fill Condition
To add a fill condition:
- From the Control Panel, click
the
icon.
- Create a new or select an existing alert.
- From the first list menu select Fills.
Select a Fill Field to validate.
Select a Operators (i.e. >=, <=).
Type or select a value based on the field selected Step 4.
Note: To add an additional condition select the AND or OR operator from last list.
- Creating a Trading Condition
To add a trading condition:
- From the Control Panel, click
the
icon.
- Create a new or select an existing alert.
- From the first list menu select Trading.
Select a Trading Fields
Select a Trading Fields to validate.
Select a Operators (i.e. >=, <=).
Type or select a value based on the field selected in Step 5.
Note: To add an additional condition select the AND or OR operator from last list.
- Creating a Order Condition
To add a order condition:
- From the Control Panel, click
the
icon.
- Create a new or select an existing alert.
- From the first list menu select Orders.
Select a Orders Fields to validate.
Note: If the field value selected is <Any field> then the only available operator is Chg.
Select a Operators (i.e. >=, <=).
Type or select a value based on the field selected in Step 4.
Note: To add an additional condition select the AND or OR operator from last list.
- Creating a Event Condition
To add a event condition:
- From the Control Panel, click
the
icon.
- Create a new or select an existing alert.
- From the first list menu select Event.
Select the Event Fields.
Note: To add an additional condition select the AND or OR operator from last list.
- Creating a Time Condition
To add a time condition:
- From
the Control Panel,
click the
icon.
- Create a new or select an existing alert.
- From the first list menu select Time.
Select a Time Fields to validate.
Select a Operators (i.e. >=, <=).
Type a time value
Note: To add an additional condition select the AND or OR operator from last list.
Cloning Alerts
Cloning an existing alert quickly transfers the alert information, including conditions and attributes, to a new alert record. This can save time when building alerts with complex conditions.
To clone an alert:
- From
the Control Panel,
click the
icon.
- Click to select the desired alert.
- Click
Clone. The cloned alert appears below the selected alert.
- Modify the Creating Alert Conditions using the condition builder.
- Enter the alert description.
- Set the reset frequency of the alert.
- Enable and configure the alert notification (e.g., Email or Message).
- Enable the alert so that it is active.
You successfully cloned an alert.
Deleting Alerts
If an alert is no longer needed you can delete it from X_RISK.
Tip: Alerts can also be disabled.
To delete an alert:
- From the Control Panel, click
the
icon.
- Click to select the desired alert.
- Click
Delete. The alert is removed from the Alert Manager window.
You successfully deleted an alert.
Enabling and Disabling Alerts
Alerts can quickly be enabled or disabled from the alert definition. When an alert is enabled and the alert condition is met the alert will be triggered.
Note: You will be notified if your alert contains errors in configuration. Before you can enable the alert, the errors must be resolved.
- To Enable An Alert
To enable an alert:
- From the Control Panel, click
the
icon.
- Click to select the desired alert.
Click the
icon to the left of the alert. The icon turns green and the alert is now active.
Note: If there are errors in your alert a message will appear. You will need to correct the errors before the alert can be enabled.
You successfully enabled an alert.
- To Disable An Alert
To disable an alert:
- From the Control Panel, click
the
icon.
- Click to select the desired alert.
- Click the
icon to the left of the alert. The icon turns gray and the alert is now disabled.
