fKill

Overview

Use fKill to stop (i.e., kill) any process running on the machine. Before killing a process, you must identify its process ID (PID). You use fKill in a command window.

Identifying a PID

To identify a PID:

  1. Right-click the task bar, and then click Task Manager.
  2. In the Processes tab, click the column called Image Name to sort the images in alphabetical order.
  3. Scroll through the Processes box to locate the service or process that you need to kill, and write down the number of that row as listed in the column named PID.

This is the PID you use in the next procedure called Killing the process.

Killing a Process

To kill a process:

  1. Open a command window.
  2. At the prompt type: fkillPID

Where PID is the PID of the process you want to stop.
